Life in modern times, to a conscientious person, can be a nerve-wracking balancing act. Life is a continuous shifting of focus from work, to maintaining homes and automobiles, to taking care of our bodies, our families, our relationships and our spirits. In all the hub bub it seems almost impossible to do it all. Across the globe people feel the stress and weariness of it all in their bones, especially when you heap on economic instability, environmental degradation, war, and all the side effects having to do with the elitist globalist corporate agenda. Therein lies the solution of localization. Localization puts power back in peoples hands directly.
After World War 2 Eisenhower warned us of the growing "military industrial complex" but since then we have steadily given more and more power to these forces for the sake of convenience. Before the Industrial revolution economies were based on cottage industries. Carpenters, weavers, midwives, farmers, healers, teachers, and masons comprised the local community and provided goods and services locally, for trade, or for money. There was no Federal Reserve and no Wall Street. The people tended to their own and one another's needs. Tending each other lifts the community as a whole, including oneself. Tending oneself uplifts only oneself. Becoming a global gardener is just that; tending the whole community of life on planet earth including plants, animals, people, and oneself, both physically and spiritually. It begins with one's self as an intention and grows and blossoms in the form of actions and ultimately results. For example, you may plant a garden; a physically and spiritually empowering endeavor, that feeds your family and friends with local, organic, nutritious sustenance, which in turn may inspire them to do the same. Eventually a business may arise out of that situation, putting dollars into local economies that support that endeavor. All the while having fun with our loved ones and benefiting the biological community.
Compare that simple personal act with going to a fast food restaurant, the economic benefits of which go to a distant corporate business executive. The food there has been mass-produced using harsh chemicals and pesticides, highly refined and processed, and shipped over long distances. These processes strip the food of nutrients, destroy soil ecology, release carbon into the air and pollute the surface and subsurface water. You may get sick from a life of eating meager, lifeless, toxic food. Then, you spend tons of money on medical bills and pharmaceuticals that also benefit some corporation.
By supporting local business, local farmers, and local governments, we can rebuild the integrity of our country. Becoming a global gardener is also an exercise in personal empowerment. Through one's personal experience, integrity, knowledge, and wisdom, the global gardener strives to mindfully and skillfully restructure our current (failing) system into a biologically benign spiritually uplifting heaven on earth. The top down pyramid system is defunct as the middle class fades and the ruling minority hordes millions and billions. Meanwhile the rest of us stress and strain for a hand to mouth survival. By working together locally, and in our own personal lives, day by day we can progress toward a less stressful, ecologically balanced, intentionally created world instead of in a world guided by fears of war, economic fall out, ill heath and separation. By empowering ones physical and spiritual health we can, from that grounded place, instigate positive change in our communities and environments. So plant a garden, be of service to others, our just find a minute to unwind and feel the power of peace in your own soul and together we will tend the garden!
